found a good deal on ebay for a pearloid pickguard and took advantage. can't wait to get it in my hands. Cost me $24 after shipping :D .

Even the cheapest one I could find on Musicians Friend ,which was listed as $10 was $40 after shipping and handling.

I'll post picks after I get it installed.

FINALLY! I got it today and installed the pearloid pickguard immediately. Next I plan to replace all the the knobs and the switch knob for parchment white. I thought about changing the the pickup covers too, but I just decided it was too much hassle to remove the pickups and change the covers. With just the pickups aged white, I don't find it looks too bad.

A pearloid pickguard will add a classy look to any guitar.

The same can't always be said for gold hardware.

Sometimes it looks great, but other times it cheapens the look.

and since the pickguard is strictly cosmetic, you don't have to pay top dollar. I bought the cheapest pickguard I could find. It's a piece of plastic... the companies charging $100 for them should be ashamed. I paid less than $20. :)

If I was paying $100 or more for a pearloid pick guard... it better be made with real pearls. lol

Actually, anyone PAYING $100 for a pearloid pickguard should have their head examined. I've picked up solid white for $9.95 and three-ply, white-black-pearl for $19.95 tops.

And for a real (and very good sounding) white pearloid LOADED pickguard, like the one above - $35.95. And sometimes, very rarely these days - you get something that's worth MORE than what you paid for it. 8)

The only way I could say a pickguard at $100 or more is worth it is if it is pre loaded...and even then it depends on what kind of pickups are in it.

...of course, I once paid $75 for a crappy little guitar that someone had put EMG single coils in just so I could take the EMG's and put them in a Japanese Squire I found the week before.
