Hey guys I'm looking at buying a new strat and I'm looking at the 70's classic player, I have some kind of clue as to the spec of it, but I can't find any decent review of it, can anyone help?

Hi Frankiefender08,

Do you mean the "Classic Series 70s"? There is no "Classic Player" in a '70s version.

Don't know if I can help you find an official review, but I actually have one and love it! Plays, looks, feels, sounds like the real thing, and the overall fit-and-finish amongst the Classic Series is better than a lot of MIA I've seen. The Ash body weighs a ton, and the period-correct Poly finish is super thick, but the heft is definitely true to the era, and the grain through the 3-color sunburst is gorgeous. The U-shaped neck is kinda chunky but really comfortable. I like the pickups, and especially with the maple board, this guitar will do that Prince/early Chili Peppers punk/funk thing for days. Really snappy, funky sound. It's definitely a guitar with a unique vibe and I'm really happy with mine.

The Classic Series 70's Stratocaster is an awesome guitar. It looks like the real thing, sounds like the real thing, but it does not feel like the real thing. The original 70's necks (U shape) feel better than the modern version, and if you could do a side by side comparison you could tell too. The reissue's U shaped neck feels not that different from a C neck, whereas the originals feel distinctly narrower nut-wise and thicker front to back. Everything else is pretty close though, and the bottom line is that they are sweet guitars. They say the modern 3 bolt neck attachment has been "improved", but my original 1974 Strat has never had an issue, so I don't know what exactly is different....they both look the same when disassembled.

Hi there ExiledonMainSt

Thanks so much for the help, I'm looking at getting one similar to yours but with a rosewood fretboard, your review has been a great help I've been looking everywhere for something like what you just did, so once again thanks a lot

Anytime, man! I know it's hard to find the Classic Series guitars in stores these days, so I'm happy to help in any way possible.
