Hello, I ve got offer to new strat. Its american from 89 or 90, thats all I know. I heared, thet fenders from 88 to 92 are made of poplar. So im not shure, ive had one fender from these years (deluxe stadart=strat plus whitout roller) and it wasnt good. Maybe becaouse of lace sensor, maybe becouse of wood. There is one deaper scratch and i cant see wood under it. It is normal to have so deep glaze? Thank for all yours opinions.

Hmm - someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I was thinking the poplar bodies (some with alder veneers) were a bit later than the guitar you're looking at -more like say 1993-1998 or so.

Nothing really wrong with poplar; it's just not used all that often as a tone wood and it's not really attractive (which is why they used alder veneers on American Standards with transparent finishes). Steve Morse uses poplar bodies for his Ernie Ball/Music Man signature guitars (the Y2D model has a maple top over a poplar body). Of course, YMMV as to how much you like Steve's tone with his various EBMM guitars.

Nice guitar Latam :)

Note the 60s pick guard screw-hole pattern. Is that a replacement?

I didn't mention it earlier but the pickguard and other plastic has to be a replacement - Fender wasn't using black plastic hardware at all during the late 1980s era..
