Hi brand new on the Fender Forum. I read a few Topics and I think this is a good place to ask for help. I just bought this on Ebay and here is what I found when I put it apart. The neck pucket walls are very ruff. The screw holes all over the guitar are pretty bad. There is white stuff all over the inside. You can see the outlook of the pickguard, etc This is suppose to be a $1600 guitar. The description of the neck on this guitar is that it is suppose to be "bat" size with satin finish. This one is regular size and pretty shiny but there is a lot of "flames". Usually Fender put those little ring around the wires. And when I removed the pickguard one the wire came loose from solder. What do you guys think? Is this Fender quality? Have they subcontrated to Gibson? haha

Most of that stuff is Normal for Fenders no matter the price point. The white stuff on the inside is just left over buffing compound from the finishing process. It gets everywhere in the cavities. I have some in my Custom Shop Strat.

The outline of the pickguard and neck plate is normal for a guitar finished in Nitrocellulose lacquer, which your is. Nitro reacts with a lot of things and thats just the effect of the pickguard/neckplate sinking into the soft finish. It happens with Nitro guitars.

The screw holes could be from the previous owner removing the pickguard and covers multiple times. Since you didn't buy it new, not really an indication of Fender QC.

Looks legit to me. From whaty I have seen body and pickups are definitely Fender. Never saw a HR62 with that flamey of a neck or gloss, however satin necks do shine up a bit if you continuously play them.

Yeah your body bridge and pickguard are real and that neck butt looks real too.
Headstock front and back pics are a must but the rest that stuff is as real as it gets from where I sit.

the neck is a hr 62 neck, and a HeLl of a flame on it, that thing looks bad $@!.
the wiring looks very legit, but some soldering looks a little messy on the pot.
other than that looks really good

Wish I would have had that picture of the vintage wiring earlier.
I love vintage wiring. I bought some of that cloth insulated black and white 22 gauge wire when I recently re-wired my American Deluxe. I had changed pickups a few times and things got messy, so i put in all new wire and componnents.

It looks legit.

The one that jumps out at me is your description of the neck being "normal size". The necks on the '62 HR are what I would describe as "baseball bat", I'm pretty sure they are the largest neck on a Fender production guitar.

I believe the SR stamp in the cavity means special run... so I bet its even better than the usual 62HR.. hence that awesome flame ..

but my real question to the OP is ..why would you possibly think that guitar is fake...???
