Hello and Welcome to the Forums.

There's a Custom Shop discussion page in which you can discuss everything else about CS guitars and basses. You can also ask Mike Eldred for any question concerning your guitar.

Congratulations - I have the same guitar in faded 3 tone sunburst, with the birdseye maple neck like yours. Delicious :-)

Only thing I found was that there's no string tee on the headstock and my high E string was prone to jump out of the nut slot when I played too energetically. I've put one on and it's now perfect.

From what I see you're also a huge Clapton maniac as you've got this beautiful-sounding EC Twinolux tweed amp.

Did you plan installing a set of VNs with TBX and MDX tone boosts at a later time?

Please bear in mind that prior to the tweed twins EC used a slo-100 head with a marshall ev 4x12 cab.

In order to achieve those early 1990s tones you'll probably need a boss gt8 pedal or a wampler slostortion.

Exactly, without the talent and the millions. Cool on the 90's stuff. Clap doesn't really use any pedals except for the Wah. So you're saying to get the crunch to emulate a high watt amp on stage cranked, get a distortion pedal. I use a Maxon 808, but it's more of an overdrive than distortion. Also, at half power that twin gets some killer natural overdrive after about 5 or 6.

Keep on pickin', the gear is always secondary. I just had a buddy over this weekend who plays the most amazing classical music; gifted. And he buys $30 flea market guitars! Nylon string rummage salers. And just jaw dropping sound. It's all in the hands mate! A a secondary obsession, I just love the look and feel of guitars in addition to their utilitarian muscial value.

Clapton used chorus and flanger during the 1980s. These effects were part of the Bradshaw rig along with a roland synthesizer bank. He stayed with these until the second half of 1989 when he switched to the Cornish rack.

As for the early 1990s stuff YES he indeed used the slo-100's crunch/distortion channel to achieve his "woman tone". The overdrive came from the guitar's onboard mdx circuit.

The soldano period came around circa 1986/87 after Mark Knopfler introduced the slo-100 to Eric, which used marshall and dean markley amps since he stopped using music man heads/cabs in 1984.
