This may sound crazy to a lot of the experienced players here.
I'm currently learning how to play on a guitar with a maple fretboard. My chord changes are a little slow because I've only been playing for about a month.
I visited a music store to try a Fender American Standard. The guitar had a rosewood fretboard. Here's the kicker: I felt I was able to change chords faster because the strings were easier to see against the darker rosewood than the maple I'm using now.
Does that sound crazy?
Anyway, saving money now to buy the American Standard.

I like maple fretboards(usually hendrix uses) but if you want hot sound, you must buy rosewood. (like SRV)
Thanks

So don't think about the color, listen the sound only, day by day it will be easy for you.

hi , you might be looking at the fretboard just now but in another year or two , (depending on practice and dedication )) you won't be looking at what you'r fretting hand is doing much anyway , but if you fancy a strat with a rosewood board , go for it i say :D , cheers

Everyone has their idiosyncrasies when it comes to learning stuff. Whatever works for the individual, its all good.

Got THAT right.

Ironically I can see the strings against the maple better than I can against rosewood.
But that's just me.

Whatever works for you, try basing
it on how comfortable your hand feels
chording.
Good luck

Keep playing and soon enough you'll develop the muscle memory that allows your hands to "know" where the notes are without having to see what your fingers are doing. Like others said, if you're more comfortable with the rosewood, and it's helping you learn, there's nothing wrong with that. Just go with whatever feels right to you.
