I have the chance of a 60th Anniversary American Stratocaster Deluxe. I already have an American Standard which I love. What is the general consensus on these 60th Anniversary guitars? I wouldn't sell my Standard so is it worth having a Deluxe too?

Anyone on here got one?

Adam - is this an American Deluxe Strat from 2006 that simply has the "60th Anniversary of Fender" medallion on the headstock or is it the actual special edition "60th Anniversary Stratocaster" that had a special redburst finish, special case and special pickups?

Don't forget that virtually every Fender made in 2006 had that "60th Anniversary of Fender" medallion (same with every 1996 Fender having the "50th Anniversary of Fender" medallion).

Hi John,

Thanks for getting back to me.

No, it's not redburst, it an off-white colour with a gold pickguard and gold detail on the fretboard and black pickups. It has a maple neck. So, if I'm not mistaken, what your saying is that it is a normal Deluxe Strat that just happended to be made in 2005/06 and therefore received a special medallion.

It looks nice and it's a decent price although I haven't played it yet.

Yes, what I was saying was that would be a normal American Deluxe Strat that happened to be made in 2006. It kind of sounds like it is an American Deluxe V-neck - they had that honey blond/off white color with a gold pickguard. However, the pickups should be SCNs with aged white covers (and it should have the S-1 switch in the volume knob). It sounds like maybe the previous owner swapped out the pickups - or at least the pickup covers as you could get SCNs with black covers.

JohnC is right however it was three color sunburst.
Fender did also make a blond one for Sam Ash.
I could provide a photo as i have in the past. They are easy to tell since both have a false jewel on the front of the headstock and a neckplate with 60th and a diamond on it.
4Hayden i see you have posted yours again.
It is not an anniversary guitar. It is an aged cherryburst deluxe it is missing the false jewel and I suspect does not have the correct neckplate. The case however is a 60th case.Hope this clears this matter up again. :D
