Andy,

You have it backwards.

HA! Good call! Yeah, I have it backwards and upside down too!

I'll go ahead and minus myself 50 points for causing all the confusion. :D

See, this is what happens when a hobbyist like me doesn't practice for a few months. I think I'm confusing and/or missing out the influence of the pot values in my post (but I could be wrong and probably am!) . As I mentioned eariler "My wiring brain is not working as it should"... it completely fried!

Thankfully there's people here that can explain this sort of stuff!

Cheers!

Andy

I have the Fender Standard 5-Way Switch on the way, should be here Monday. I'll wire it per the SSS drawing and see if I get normal functionality. Otherwise I'll be back for more help

Everyone's been really helpful so far, thanks!

Still having fun with this Strat, and by fun I mean about ready to pull my hair out. Received the Standard SSS 5-Way Switch today. Wired is up exactly as per the drawings, which included removing an extra wire and one capacitor from the bottom volume tone pot. Still have the same problem, which is if I have all the Pickup Black wires going to the Volume Pot, and the White Wires from the Pickups going to the Switch exactly as they're shown on the drawing... I still get normal functionality in 1, 3, and 5. But no Noise cancelation on 2 or 4, and a terrible Thin Hallow Tone when using the in between setting of the Bridge/Middle.

I'm seriously stumped... I could deal withtout the Noise Cancelation of the two middle positions. But why in the world does my Bridge Pickup function perfectly norma, until I combine it with the Middle Pickup? It sounds like when you take a Wah Pedal and just leave it pushed all the way forward.

Here's the drawing I'm following for reference, since this is sort of what I'm trying to emulate
http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... A_SISD.pdf

Just to rule out any bias, I actually work for an electrical engineer and have done wiring much more difficult than this. Not saying I couldn't have made a mistake... but if I did it's probably not something that obvious

You've got a wiring error. Check everything over again and if you are satisfied it is correct, check it again. Photos would be very helpful.
