My comment is that this is a dumb thing to post in a Strat forum.

What does "overrated" mean, exactly, anyway? People who own them like them more than they should? They were accidentally the most copied guitar of all time, and it should have been something else?

I find it interesting that a person whose nic equates life with his instrument of choice would call someone elses instrument of choice overrated.

How can an instrument that has become a standard be overrated? Do you mean overpriced? Given that when strats came out in the 50's they were priced around $250 which translates into $1,800 in 2008 dollars and that the average American Standard MRLP is less than that, then the answer to both questions has to be, NO!!!!!!!!!

Now crawl back to the Tele forum.

I hear this WAY too often... No, I don't think Strats are overratted. Absolutely not. The reason I play Strats more than other guitars is I find the tones out there to be nearly limitless and individual. When I hear a Les Paul, 90% of the time I hear the same tone. With Strats, I hear so many variations and personal preferences. Reason why so many people play them? They work. 8)

No bro, it's not that. In terms of my post, I'm a college student who pulled an all nighter on an art project and just got home- I'm snippy. You just have to understand for ME I hear that all the time from people. They look down on me because "everyone" plays one. I like my Strats more than other instruments- I own three of them for a reason. 8)

Exactly what I was thinking. If people like them SOOO much then why should we consider them overrated? And, if they were anything else, think about how some of our favorite Strat players would sound without them. Stevie Ray, Hendrix, Clapton, and the list just keeps going.
