Hey folks ....
Can someone tell me the difference between these?
Moneywise, I know the Deluxe runs about 400 dollars more.
To a beginner like myself, would buying an American Standard be a wise choice?
Once again, thanks for all your help.
Best regards,
Mark

The american standard would be a great choice, you pay extra for locking machines, noiseless pups, etc on the deluxe, but you don't really need these, its all down to personal choice. I prefer the feel of the american standards for playability, they are great guitars, the deluxe models don't feel right for me.

Go for the one that you like. You really can't go wrong with either one.

It really depends on your budget. Both are awesome guitars. You pay more for "upgraded" parts with the Deluxe.

I always give this advice when choosing guitars: if you can play as many different guitars in your price range. Since you mention you are a beginner, do you know anyone who already plays? If you do, take than with you to the store.

In my honest opinion the Fender Standard is an awesome guitar for a beginner. You may however want to get a MIM Standard at first to see if you even want to devoting time into playing. Once you know for sure guitars are for you, then upgrade to an American Standard or Deluxe.

Currently, I'm learning the basics on an old Peavey Predator given to me by my Brother-in-law. It serves the purpose well, but I am interested in getting something better.

As said many times, Whatever feels and plays the best in your hands will be the winner. Both are very sweet guitars. Good luck choosing.

Either will be a big upgrade. I am satisfied with my American Standard. Play both models and see which is better for you. Good luck. Keep up posted.

I would get the American Standard personally. In all the posts that I've seen on this forum, I haven't seen one about someone complaining about the pickups on an American Standard. I have seen more than my fair share of gripes about the pickups on the deluxes. I have a 2005 American Series Strat and I've never felt the need to change anything on it. A lot of people with deluxes feel the need to change out the pickups straight away. I also see a lot of posts from people asking if they can change the stock pickups without affecting the S1 system.

I think Fender got the American Series/Standards spot on from the start.

I would go for Standard because I like it's sound more, I've tried several and few Deluxes and in all honesty I like Standard sound more.
But that's highly subjective ofc.
Deluxe is a better guitar hardware wise tho, but Standard is already a fine "packed" guitar, so... depends on what you need and what you want. And how many $ you have.
But bear in mind that Deluxe isn't upgraded Standard, it's a different guitar  .
Would be same as if you said "Classic Player 50s or American Standard?"
