:? I am having a dificult time Identifying my strat. The online site that I was able to find said that it was either an "84, "85, or an "87 according to the serial # range (E400000). Is ther a way to find out exactly using the serial number without buying a book.

You would probably get a better response if you could post some pitures... especially close ups.

 Thankyou for your replys I tried the fender site that you recomended that narrowed it down from 3 to 4 possibilities :) I did find a solution though. I went to a web site that sells guitars and lists their serial numbers. (sweetwater.com) There was about ten "87 strats to choose from mine fell between their serial numbers. I know that that was the firist year that tha american standard strat (not the toilet company) was made. I would like to find out more about it. I have a phone line modem and surfing is painfull.
