Hey

I'd like to know if anyone has any tips for me to try on my Am Std Strat like stuff about springs, bridge etc general stuff really..

I'd just like to know how I could get the very best out of my new gorgeous guitar.

Cheers, Jack :D

It rather depends on what you want. I tend to block the tremolo, flatten the neck and give a serious setup but that might not be your thing.

Hey thanks for the reply !

Well my other guitar is an ES 335 and I tend to rest my wrist on the bridge which is proving a nuisance on my new strat because the tremolo means I'm having to change my playing style (which I'm not too fussed about I'm all about being new and improved and stuff) and I've only had my strat 2 days so I'm just settling in

I'm happy with what I have I absolutely love it but Im all for experimentation

Get a book on setting up a Strat. My local library had a really good one. Pictures and clear instructions on what you need to know.

Learn how the trem actually works. There are a lot of Strat players who are clueless about it. Get the book and take the trem out of the guitar so you understand how it pivots, how the sustain block works, etc.

It's NOT complicated, which is why it's odd that so many players remain uninformed on how this simple but brilliant system works.

Don't immediately "block" the trem. I'm not saying blocking isn't a good idea for those who like it (it has some advantages and some trade-offs), but I can tell you that my trem is full floating (alters pitch up and down), and probably stays in tune as well or better than your es335.

If you learn how the system actually works and still want to block it (partially disable), great....I just hate to see you abandon having it full floating because you didn't learn how to make it function properly.

Yeah that sounds like a pretty good idea !

Ive had it 2 days and ive already found out it stays in tune better than my ES ! Although ive had on going problems with my tuning system.. which is Gibsons problem and not for the Fender Forums 8)

But yeah man thanks for the advice im definitely gonna have a scout around for a strat book !

Id love to know the inside outs of my Strat there isnt really much you need to understand on guitars that have 2 humbuckers but the strat seems a lot more complex !

But thanks anyway bud ill probably post when ive found anything :)

I searched on Amazon to see if I could find the book I used from the library. It's "The Fender Stratocaster Handbook", by Paul Balmer.

It has setup info as well as info on electronics and so on.

This is what I do as well. If it's good enough for Clapton, it's certainly good enough for me.
