This is my FIRST post, as I am new to this forum. O.K., I was injured to the point that I may never play guitar again. (10) surgeries, 7 on my arm, ouch. I was given 2 Squier strats, as gifts, to practice with, to see if I was ever going to be able to play again. So while recouping, if the Squier's slipped off the bed, I would not break one of my vintage super-loved axe's. Now the stage is set: I am thinking to replace the necks with Fender licensed "All-Parts" necks, and down the road, some of the other hardwear, etc. However, the guitars themselves are quite nice, & sound good as they are, albeit with inferior fret jobs and some slight twisting of the neck itself. These are Indonesian made, but was told that the wood, is from the U.S.? Can anyone out there tell me what you think, what would "you" do, and is the wood really from the states? Indonesia has some great wood from their forests, but I don't know what is being used. Please advise. Musaxeman, Thanks.

Rather than replacing the neck and possibly.electronics, I'd buy another guitar. I wouldn't sink that much money into one guitar when I could probably buy another better guitar for the same money........and I don't call myself an expert by any means......and I do add electronics to guitars and plan on building one, but its for fun not for what's most practical.

I'd just play the Squiers and leave it at that.
You say you already have some better guitars.
Wait until you know with certainty how much of a recovery you're going to have.
One thing at a time.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Use a guitar strap. They won't slip away from you so easy.
