I've seen both 2-3/16" and 2-7/32" listed as the E to E and the outer vintage trem hole spacing for American Stratocaster bodies, but my '68 reissue body has screw holes that measure 2.200" center to center. That's closer to 2-3/16 (+.012) than 2-7/32 (-.019).

Were both of these spacings used at different times? Are trem plates currently made to fit either of these? I bought a vintage trem for this body that was supposed to be American spacing, but it measures 2.223" and won't quite fit and I don't want to force it.
