xstrs (transistors) - pedals maybe? Try without.

Miami Mike,

Thanks. I did and still get the radio but not as loud. I have a cheap cable from the 1st pedal to the guitar. Could this be the reason?

Had a Peavy transtube that would do the same thing. Only when sitting against a certain wall in my house. If I moved the amp, it would go away. Did you try moving it to a different location?

I have no answer to the problem except to tune to a good rocking station and jam along.
Saves plugging in the Ipod..
Sorry I will close the door behind me

I also pick up my local radio station with my crybaby. It says in the manual that it may well happen, as part of the pedal acts as a receiver, and it is not a problem. TO be honest, I think it's quite cool. It doesn't always happen, and when I start playing I think it stops. I don't find it a problem.

What you should do is systematically work through all of your pedals and amp(using the different channels/amounts of effect) one by one. Find what is doing this, and then research on the internet and in the manual of that peice of equipment.

OK, I'm officially freaked out. I was trolling the boards early this morning and saw this thread, read through it, shrugged, and went on.
Just about an hour ago, I got my Strat, Frontman, and multi-effects unit all hooked up to do some experimental noise-making and I notice this intermittent crackle that was driving me nuts.
In frustration, I jacked the AC cord from the back of the effects unit, and lo and behold, I've got several concurrent AM radio stations broadcasting through my amp.
I took everything over to the other side of the room, put it all back togather.
No crackle, no wierd RF.
Pretty bizzarre.

You got that right. Knowing the wiring in this house, it wouldn't surprize me.

It can be anything from a badly shielded circuit, wiring problem or a scratchy control pot.
Isolate the issue. Remove all your effects and test. Try a different cable. Different amp or different location. Test out whatever introduces the noise at a store or on a friends rig.

If all else fails, try an ebtech device.
