I'm considering changing the pickguard (and pickups) in my E-series MIJ. The plan is to keep the original loaded pickguard intact and just put together a new loaded pickguard for it.

I haven't removed the pickguard yet but I'm sure the currently-available Fender pickguards won't fit because of the Kahler trem assy. Can a Fender pickguard be "modified" (enlarge the opening to accommodate the Kahler assy) without it looking like a hack job? I'm guessing (but not sure yet) that everything else on the pickguard would line up okay. I'm considering a tortoise shell pickguard and I've heard you gotta be careful working with those because of the material they're made of. A black pickguard is another possibility...
