Not sure if Eric will start playing guitar synthesizers again.

He used to play a CAR Greco GR505 in 1984/85, but his guitar synth days failed to attract the attention of his die-hard fans, even he did a masterful use of the instrument.

The Custom Shop built a SynthStrat in 2004 for him, but he never used it live and in the studio.

Presumably you don't have a Clapton Strat!

This guitar, Lot #61..a 2007 Roland-ready Fender Stratocaster, was built for Eric by Todd Krause and was sold at the Bonham auction: Specs:
-neck butt penciled marked 6/07 Todd Krause
-in black finish with maple neck with skunk stripe routing
-the back of the headstock with Todd Krause Custom Shop transfer
-twenty-two fret fingerboard with dot inlays
-staggered height tuners
-three single coil pickups
-Roland GK pickup
-three rotary controls, selector switch, toggle switch, two button controls
-tremolo bridge tail block and three ply white pickguard
Built as a prototype for Eric's evaluation.

Lot #60 was a VG Stratocaster in black dated same month and year and builder, Also a prototype built for Eric's evaluation.

... As our highly esteemed official photo archivist has astutely observed..... 'lots of Clapton Vibe. As for myself, having seen these two guitars, among the others, close up and personal, I can only but strongly concur.

If you've ever wondered what these guys are doing that it takes so long to get your guitar built, this is only part of the cause.

Doc, the black G5 Strat is the same guitar as the 2004 SynthStrat Todd built for EC? As far as I know I never seen Eric playing that guitar live and in the studio.

The only stage shot showing Clapton playing a Roland guitar synthesizer dates from 1985, though he already used the guitar synth while touring with Roger Waters in 1984.

I'll shut up then. It's just that I have 2 TK built strats and a a Clapton Custom shop. I had a VG in tha same colour but it was miles away from the other machines.

My appolgies, I must have been depressed when I posted. :D

I only chipped in because I am lucky enough to have 2 TK built machines and a custom shop built Clapton Strat. I also 'owned' a VG in these colors but it was miles away from the TK and custom shop, I didn't like it. It had to go.

So my apologies, I might have been a little grumpy when I posted

:D

I owned a '97 Blackie which I swapped out a '93 TelePlus for. Not too happy in retrospect having given up the Tele. It was an awesome rock'n roll guitar but I have to be honest with myself in that I'm much more comfortable playing Strats. The Blackie went out towards a CS teambuilt Strat which was based on the Clapton platform but had SCN pickups plus other features not related to the discussion. That guitar went out towards my Gilmour. In the same breath I acquired an '89 Pewter Clapton which ain't goin no where. I also have an '08 Deluxe VG in Antique Cherry Burst with a v-neck, SCN's, and locking tuners. This guitar is cannot be touched by the American Standard version of the VG. The creme de la creme of TK Claptons is probably the Blackie owned by Alain which was one of a brace of three lovingly referred to as The Triplets, which TK built in 2003. The order was crafted 'built as for the artist' and apparently it was, because there are little tweaks in it, according to Alain which make it just a tad better.
