I've got a Special Edition Koa Strat which I love. Is there a way to find out how many of these were made?

not sure but fender has been putting them out for at least 2 years now. A friend of mine got one in 2006 and the music store down the street from us has one for sale now

I don't think Fender releases any production numbers to the public.

Perhaps it's encoded in the serial number but you'd probably need a real inside track to decipher that info!

I like the sound, very bright. It does have seymour duncan's.
I like the feel of the neck. All in all I'm pleased with it.

I purchased a Koa Wood Stratocaster over a year and a half ago. I really like the strat. However, I had to put a couple of tremolo springs on the unit. It only came with two. I could not keep the guitar in tune till then. I had mine professionally setup at a local music store. The sound of the strat is designed for most rock, pop, and blues type of music. The instrument is very hip, but I don't think one will be trying trash rock with the guitar.
