On Saturday, I traded an American Deluxe Tele that I just wasn't happy with for this.

I love the Candy Apple Red finish and the rosewood fretboard. Reminds me of the Strat that Andy Summers plays. This will have pride of place next to my American Special Strat.

Nice CAR beauty! Congrats on the NGD!
Be careful of that finish... they are a bit fragile. You may begin the relicing process early like I did!

I'll certainly be careful!

Torresfan...nice choice and sounds like a good trade. That CAR with a Rosewood board is a Classic color combo :!:

Neat! Everyone knows red guitars are faster. 8)

And 2005 was a very good year for the Am Series, in my completely unbiased opinion...

Enjoy that Strat - C

Thanks Ceri

Ever since I was a kid seeing Hank Marvin and Andy Summers, I always wanted a red Strat.

Ah-ha: never seen Hank, but I did get to see Andy play his chrome red Strat a couple of times on the Police reunion tour not so long ago. This photo was on the big Hard Rock Cafe stage in Hyde Park right at the end of the tour. At this point in the show I was stuck behind a camera position for a while as you see: tiresome, but at least it saved me having to look at Sting for a few minutes.

Back in 2005 I walked in to Turnkey in London to buy a Chrome Red Am Series. However, they had the Sienna Sunburst version with a milky pale maple fingerboard on a stand by the counter and when I looked closely it turned out to have my name on it. So that's the '05 Am Series I dragged home that day. Whatever the finish, gorgeous guitar!

Cheers - C

I saw the Police in 2007 here in Dublin at Croke Park and since then I've bought the live DVD from the concert in Buenos Aires from the same tour. What amazed me was how much Andy Summers used the Strat. Such a fuss is made about his famous Tele but there is no doubt that the Strat is his main Guitar. And such a beautiful Guitar. I resolved that one day I would have a Strat similar to his with that beautiful red and with a rosewood fretboard. Funnily enough, I read his biography recently and the Strat barely got a mention whereas the Tele nearly got it's own chapter.

A lot of people thought that I was crazy for trading a brand new American Deluxe Tele for a 2005 American Series Strat but I have no regrets and I never bonded with the Tele, too many fancy gizmos. I did keep the case and the schaller strap locks from the tele though to re-balance the difference in price between the two Guitars. But I just love the Strat. I especially love the saddles which are much more confortable for palm muting.

I'm a couple of payments away from paying off a 2011 Gibson Les Paul Traditional that I got through an old school friend of mine. I've known him for years so basically he orders in Guitars for me, hands them to me straight away and then I pay back what I can monthly. Once the Gibson is paid off (hopefully April), he's going to order me in an American Deluxe Strat in Olympic Pearl with the tortoise shell pickguard and rosewood neck and also an American Standard Tele, I have decided on colour or fretboard type yet, although i'm leaning heavily towards candy apple red with a rosewood fretboard. I can't wait!
