If you do not agree that this fake firestorm body does not look just like xhefri's, you are obviously not an expert.
Do you own a fender in the firestorm finish?
Have you ever seen one with your own eyes?
I have had an offer to display one of mine at the museum in corona.
Has Xhefri? Have You?
Get brad involved. I'll get my contact involved. Let's see what happens.

Greenheart. I am not getting a couple of things.
The spots you show in the above photo are on the top horn area.
The spots I mentioned were from the jack plug area.

Also, if your photos are a fake, PLMK the exact comparisons to
the $2400 or Xhefri's guitar.
Why use a fake when you could use the "real deal" to compare with Xhefri's.
I'd rather see you post a real "Plus Deluxe" rather than a fake one to compare to.

Otherwise, how can any real Plus Deluxe compare to a fake?

Well the pics don't even match so I can't see what the argument is over.

As for Xhefri, I'll trust him over someone who has under a dozen posts under different alias. Until proven otherwise.

Probably time to get Brad involved.

This. Right on.

By the way...Greenheart = shweeson.

toppscore,

Did you not look at the first photo I posted?

look again.

the fake in the middle is bright red.

now compare the close up photos of the fake bright red one to the ones pictured on xherfi's restoration thread.

you dont think that they both look alot alike?

now go to google images and look at some pictures of the fender firestorm finish.

look at all of them closely, and then look at xhefri's. big difference.

Then look again at the photos I posted of the fake firestorm body that came from tenstarguitars.

It looks just like xhefri's.

You can go to the Internet Archive and see what a website used to look like.

Here are some pictures of a firestorm strat that was on xhefri's site over a year ago.

I thought about starting a new thread about this subject, and might. But at the same time how much time should I decimated to a guy (and friend) that have been way less than honest in dealing with me. The old saying is "A person persuaded against his will is of the same opinion still." So I write this to those who might be a bit more open that this Firestorm expert.

Mr. Greenheart (named James Willard) started emailing about the first part of June and stating, "A friend of mine says he knows the guy with the icestorm tele.... He said he has seen it. He is trying to arrange a time for me to view it. Hopefully I'll get pics." Then in other emails he lead me on about going to meet this person and taking lot's of cash with him and he wanted to talk with me about the Icestorm. I called thus giving him my phone number. He called me back at my home office number and stared a rant about how many Firestorsm he has and the one his friend bought one on ebay that was fake. I did not even realize at that time that this was the same person who offered to sell me the Firestorm body a few month previous. Truth is, he never had a lead on a Icestorm, it was all a ploy to get my phone number to start his rants harassing me late one late Friday evening. When i got off the phone I told my wife there are sure some ego head people who like to rant and rave about guitars, etc.

He then sent me an email two days later accusing me of being involved with a guy names Tenstarguitars in making and selling fake Firestorms and Icestorm guitars. He emailed me and here is a direct quote from his email, "look at the photos.  you know what's up, and so do I. I suggest you remove ALL of the pictures of your fake firestorm restoration from the forum. I also think you should remove the pictures if your fake firestorm, and your fake icestorm off of YOUR site. Maybe YOU got scammed? I don't think so. I will check YOUR site monday morning. Please forward this email and the pictures to rod at tensterguitars,  or shall I say....  tenstarfelony's. If I don't see the changes made by tomorrow morning, I crack this whole scam wide open. I have been printing copies of the completed listings for months, like that ultra that sold a couple weeks ago. This is serious. keywords  -   paypal investigation , ebay , fender , better business bureau , district attorneys etc." I emailed him a few days later and told him I was so sorry to find out that the CIA, FBI, and not even the sheriff showed up at my home!

Ok now to the Firestorm I had (I sold it to a close friend of mine) when I started the tread about "Strat Plus DX in Rare Firestorm Finish - CSI Forensics" I pointed out I bought this guitar and that someone almost ruined it by using auto polish and steel wool. I did not want to incriminate the seller as he told me he was selling this guitar for a friend—so no names were mentioned on purpose. Also Mr Greenheart mentioned I use to have a "real" Firestorm on my website but now it has been replaced by this fake. Ok Let's take a look at both. The one that use to be on my site belonged to a friend of mine who gave me permission to post it. I try to post mostly picts of guitars I have owned so when I picked up the the one in question, I use those pictures instead.

Left you will see the "real" one and next to it is the one in question. They look the same to me! The one I had was a 1991 according to the serial number and body stamp.

Next, when i got this guitar, after owning close to 550 to 600 Strat Plus' over the years (Ok, i know this is just a hobby and I am an amateur!) but I know these guitars inside and out. i can tell if solder joints have been messed with or pickups changed, OR even if a body has been refinished. One thing I that is a fact and that was that the Firestorms appeared between 1990 - 1991. Each one was it's own work of art, being done by hand. This means each one does and will vary some in appearance. When you look at the inside of this body you see the place masked off from Fender where the black shielding paint inside the pickup route. There is no buildup of paint there. No signs of any other colors in the neck socket. I can tell when someone refinishes a body. There is always some type if sign of a different color inside the plug socket, route, or neck pocket. There is nothing like that on this guitar, NOR did it smell like fresh paint (or PPG as the accuser mentions. Funny he knows what PPG smells like!)

Image

Image

Now on to the Icestorm body. The dates inside the body we late 1989 (Nov). It is not uncommon that Fender used 1989 parts to build a 1990 or 1990 parts for a 1991. Dates can be off as much as a whole year at times. So the Icestorm comes in at a time when these guitars were just starting to be made. Forum member John C mentioned he saw an Icestorm back in 1990s some time. Others claim to have seen them. I have never till I bought this guitar saw one. OK, all the solder joints factory. The pickups, switch, and pots were era correct. When I got the guitar it looked like it had not been touched for years.

Next point. When fender paints a body they have a process they go through. There is a base coat (color coat) and then a drying time and then a clear coat. Often in-between these two times the Fender painter places a sticker inside the the pickup route between the base coat and clear coat process. here is a Jeff Beck body from 1991. Note the yellow sticker?

Image

Here is a 1997 Plus body, again the yellow sticker:

Image

This is a 1991 Clapton Blackie body again note the sticker:

Image

and this 1990 Blue Pearl burst, note the brown sticker:

Image

Ok then I open the Icestorm and take this picture the day it came in to my shop, Note the yellow sticker? Also note the pickups. 2 wire (orange and white) all era correct and no tampering with anything nor signs of refinish. Even the small round black spot where a round sticker was placed by the Fender painter to expose the black shielding paint under the finish. No signs anywhere of this being faked, refinished or anything. It look like the firestorm finishes but in blue.

Image
Image

Here is a 1990 Midnight Blue body. You can see the place where the small round sticker was placed for the ground shielding paint. Same era as the Icestorm. Even the neck sockets look the same as far as how the paint colors are around the inside of the socket.

Image
Image

Ok, is there any reason to believe that this is a fake? Could it be these varied as the paint tech was getting his method down in doing these. Some have more black streaks, some have more red. Some are darker and some are lighter. Each one of these were hand done. If you remember previous thread (or read my website) you will note that when it come to colors, with Fender variation is always the acceptation! If these are fakes, someone was really good at doing them, and to make them even look like they came straight from Fender.

in closing, regarding shweeson, who is Greenheart's crony, comments in a post: "kinda confusing that mr. stratocaster expert can't even produce an authentic firestorm......Bottom line is....You can't call it a "Firestorm Finish" if it is not authentic.....you have to call it a "firefox" or something else--as far as the ''icestorm'' is concerned....it does not exist...do your research .....stop being a disgrace to THE BEST ARTWORK FENDER HAS EVER PRODUCED....and all those other fake guitars are also a disgrace.....graffiti yellow ...lake placid blue...blah ...blah...blah ---as you know it is highly illegal to sell fake guitars....especially in the high dollar range.....it's probably not a good idea to display fake fender items on a website.. "

OK, so graffiti yellow and lake placid blue are also fakes?? LOL. And these guys are professionals? good grief they know very little about 1987-1989 Fender Strats. I guess i am done. I have a real life with real work to do!
