Hy everyone. I`ve bought recently this american made strat.
After playing a Squier for 3 years there were definite differences in tone quality and sustain, but I`m not quite sure about some "things".
1. I can`t really tell what kind of Strat it is and what`s the name of the color (would it be "fiesta red"?)2
2. In positions 2 & 4 (hum cancelling) I still have almost the same amount of noise/hiss especially with more overdrive...I checked the soldering, but nothing visible at first glance (like resoldering the wires for phase inverting at the pick-ups). Any sugestions?
3. Around the 12-th fret and up, on strings no. 3-4-5-6 after plucking them the sound is not so clean..it has this slight vibrato...almost as a tremolo effect. I tried rasing the string action so it wouldn`t touch the frets, but didn`t help, still got the vibrating "effect".

Please help me with some answers. Thanks.

Hi rockinbluesman,

1) Contact Fender with your serial number for details.

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/contact-consumer-relations

2) What kind of pickups are installed? Some sets don't have a RWRP middle pup, so no noise canceling in 2 and 4.

3) Sounds like your guitar needs a complete setup, and maybe new strings.

It may be a 2004 Highway 1 in Crimson Transparent before the large headstock. I don't think the mid was RWRP on this model and pretty much +1 on what Shimmilou has said especially with new strings.

As for that weird, warbly sound on the higher frets, I pulled out my hair sorting this same issue out once. You simply have your pickups adjusted too high, or too close to the strings. back them off a little and you will see a major improvement. ;)

Thanks a lot to everyone for the answers!
@shimmilou: I changed the strings, that was the first thing to do.
@ jimmy_james & goodinbed: I did some research on the Highway One series and written to Fender customer suport and waiting for an answer.
@Steve-oh-no: thanks a lot man!!!You`ve given me hope. As soon as I`ll get home, I`ll get on it and lower the pickups.
I`ll post the results.
Take care :)

@Steve-oh-no: I did some tweaking and it sounds like it got better. Thanks a lot for the tip.
If it hadn`t been for you, I`d never had figured it out by myself.
Thanks again.
