Hi,

I have just taken the trem spring out of my Custom Shop and found that it needs replacing, 'cos the old one is like squashed down, so it's shorter than a new one, must be well worn?

The problem is, when I put a new spring in, it comes to the top of the thread so I can't screw the trem arm in.

Anyone any ideas?

Clive

Your right, the springs do compress, however a new one should drop down far enough so there is no danger of cross threading the block. Take a good look at the new spring you have, it shouldn't be that much higher than the old compressed one. Check and make sure there isn't another compressed spring, or some kind of makeshift spacer, in the cavity. You just want to take care not to strip the threads on your nice custom shop.

Thanks tvr - I appreciate it mate! I'll have a 'poke' around and see if there's something else in there.
