There is a small spring that puts tension on the tremelo arm. It goes in the hole you uncovered by removing the small sticker on the bridge.

That's what it is. A spring to keep tension on the arm. In my opinion, it's really sort of a poor design, because the things always fall out and get lost.

One way to keep it from falling out is to cut a small piece off a refrigerator magnet, maybe about 2cm by 2cm, and sticking it on the hole every time you remove the tremelo arm. It'll keep the spring from falling out.

This is something Fender really needs to improve. Other bridges have the arm go into a tight fitting nylon sleeve with a small allen screw that can be adjusted to keep the arm from wiggling.
