Ok, so I ordered a Warmoth replacement neck for an old MIM Standard Strat that I had modded out. I posted another thread about that. Anyway, when I got the new neck, I decided to try and re-carve the other one. I didn't care for the C-shape profile and wanted more of a V. I had a copy of Vintage Guitar magazine with an article detailing how to do this so I went for it. I'm fairly happy with the result so far but now I've got to seal and/or finish it. The article suggested Danish Oil or Nitro lacquer but I haven't been able to find any Danish Oil at the local hardware store.

Any body ever tried this for themselves? If I were to go with the Nitro, is it a tough job? Any advice is welcome.

hi , it's a pity you don't live near me , i have half a gallon of danish oil , and i have to say it makes for a lovely guitar neck 8) , i did the fretboard of my 89 mij std a while ago and i also oiled a neck i picked up with hideous varnish on it , it looks a million bucks for not a lot of work , you could also use tung oil if you can't source danish oil , cheers

Thanks for the reply alanssaab.

Do you live in the States? I'm just wondering where I might find Danish Oil or even Tung Oil. They don't have it in my local hardware store but there is a Lowe's about 30 minutes from my hometown.

Also, did you apply the Danish Oil with a brush or did you spray it?

Danish oil is fairly common. I'm sure Lowes has it, also, most hardware stores. People decide between danish oil and tung oil. My decision is danish oil. Cheers. :)
