I am new to the Fender Community. I recently bought a 1993 American Standard Strat (black with maple neck) from eBay...got a great price for an excellent guitar.

So, I bought some Fender Wax and was wondering if I can use it on the body, pick guard, and/or other parts of the guitar. I cannot find any reference to the actual use for the wax and do not want to apply it to something it is not intended.

I want to preserve this guitar and use it for a long time. Are there any other things I can do to keep it looking as good as it plays?
Thanks

If by maple neck you mean a maple fretboard, it won't hurt anything to use "wax" all over the guitar. If you have a rosewood board, the wax will get into the grain, dry, and you will have white stuff in the grain lines that will be hard to get rid of. But guitar "wax" can be used on metal parts, plastic, and the body and neck finished surfaces too.

Thank you for the replies...sorry I was not specific enough. I should know better :-)

I am talking about the Fender pump spray 'guitar polish'. The directions on the bottle says :
"Shake well. Apply an even coat of Fender Guitar Polish to your instrument. Polish gently with a genuine Fender Polishing Cloth until a deep, glossy shine appears."

I do have a maple fretboard, not rosewood.

Can I apply this polish to the entire guitar, or avoid any part of the instrument?
I am a little leery of spraying this 'liquid' polish to the pickups and bridge area for fear it will get into an area I cannot get to to wipe off the excess or harming the finish.

Again, thanks for the prompt replies.

Just use some care around electronics. Spray the polish onto the cloth rather than dousing the guitar with it and you'll be fine.

Use a damp micro-fibre cloth to get the finger prints off and polish with a soft dry cloth.
Nothing looks worse than a black guitar with a greasy wax build up. Definately do not use wax on the maple fretboard or the neck. You want your neck to be dry and fast not sticky.

+1 Especially when the pics of same are uploaded on this Forum and there are a couple hundred greasy fingerprints all over the guitar. I can't believe how many guys don't wipe their guitars off before taking pics. Phew! :(

I agree about the fingerprints...have a little class !!!
I think black with the maple fretboard is really sharp...IMHO
Thanks for the advice. I will polish it when I change the strings.
Rock ON !!!
