So far the action is the same. It's always been set pretty low and hasn't changed at all.

So the bridge didn't lift and the action is the same ?
NICE !
Glad to hear you didn't experience the same chain-reaction cause-and-effect that had me running back and forth all weekend to the local GCs and SAs.

So, how does it sound?
Ya lovin' it?

Just acquired a 2005 American Series Strat at the weekend that had 9s on it. Slapped in a set of 11s, adjusted the saddle height and neck and again.....boom!

Awesome! :)

I must agree. The 11s are the sweetest.

Agreed. After playing 13s on my A.S.S., I pick up my friends axe play a lick and any bend is up two steps instead of one! Won't go back, can't.

American Standard Strat. Editing program won't permit the acronym without periods. Does sound funny though...

Seems like most here prefer heavy strings. Why do you think Strats come new with 9's?

That's a very good question. It never made any sense to me as they can make the Strat a little thin sounding.

Maybe for ease of use?

I like 11s, and have them on my Kramer, they last longer and sound a little better than 10s. But, 11s are much harder to play than 9s, especially for bending. If you use the whammy it will be stiffer with 11s also. Usually, I change my new Strat strings to 10s, but after getting used to 9s on the Blacktop, they feel more comfortable and bend easier than 10s or 11s. For now, with hum-buckers and decked bridge, I'm sticking with 9s for easier playing and they sound great on this guitar. But 11s, especially tuned down a half step, sound awesome and may be worth the extra effort.
