Just got my new blacktop stratocaster and I love it! I said I'd post pics once I got it so here it is. It plays so smooth and I love the sounds on it. I still need to set it up properly but here are the pics even though they don't do it justice with the lighting in my house.

Beutiful guitar. Enjoy. I just picked up a Blacktop HH Floy Rose myself. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have been enjoying mine.

Thanks guys. It is playing very well except it loses it's tune a little when I use the tremolo much or if I bend a lot. I think it's just because I don't have the trem, intonation, or saddles set. Any of you guys have a problem with it staying in tune?

Awesome!! Our other guitar plays one. The pickups have a great sound. I recently dropped one in a Tele partscaster. Sounds nice.

Usually when I get a new guitar, I'll check the trem and saddle heights, get the intonation good or close, then change the strings to what I use (10-46). After that, I'll check to see what the neck is doing in the relief, check the trem again, adjust if they need it, then work the saddles and intonation again.

Also, check the nuts holding the tuners on. Make sure they're snug while the strings are off.

You might want to try that, let the strings stretch for a couple days, then see if the same thing is happening.

Nice guitar. I'm a big fan of the Blacktop series.

Thanks a lot. I think I'll try that. I recently changed my saddle heights and adjusted my truss rod and that has helped. I haven't done intonation yet so I'm sure that will help too. I'm also thinking of adding more spring support on the back of my tremolo system (behind back plate) tilting the claw area to support more tension on the lower strings since they pull harder on the trem and neck. Don't know if that made any sense lol! But here is a video describing what I'm talking about:

Hi there,

Leaving aside a set-up which after all is necessary on any guitar, the easiest and cheapest way to make it stay in tune a bit better when using the trem is to lightly oil (I use 3-in-1) the nut and trees. I don't touch the bridge end at all.

And if you don't have locking tuners, wind the strings in such a way that they're not so likely to 'unwind' around the posts when dumping the trem.

I have lockers fitted to all my Strats. Only one has the LSR nut (the Plus), the rest have ordinary nuts and trees and I have no problems at all. And the oil will last for ages.

Cheers - Peter.

Congrats! I got my Sonic Blue a few months ago. I put Chrome Dome Knobs and a Chrome Stainless Steel Switch Tip to accent the pup covers.

Good point here. I was planning on doing that also and you just reminded me to get it done.

Thanks! I'm liking it a lot. I have upgraded the Caps to Sprague Orange Drops 33's. I may swap the H'bucker pups for a more Vintage style sound. A wee bit hot for me. Other than that a well made guitar and looker. Enjoy friend!

Have you done much string bending with it, and has it stayed in tune? I'm thinking of blocking off my tremolo because I heard that you don't have to bend as high on the string to get the pitch you want, because with the tremolo the bending has to take into account the springs.
