It is very difficult to judge whether or not to use ordinary cleaning techniques on maple fretboards. Would be great if anyone could point out the best way to maintain a maple fretboard (Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster)

Welcome.

As the board has a sealed, plastic finish, ordinary cleaning techniques are fine. Ensure that all residue is wiped off from whatever cleaner you choose.

Im sorry to come up with many questions as Im a newbie . Will it be allrite to use wonder wipes or lemon oil and clean it and wipe it off soon after?. Is it a better option not to use any cleaner at all but just wipe off using a cloth ?.

Thank you very much for your reply :)

No apology necessary. Those of us who know about such things had to inquire one way or the other to learn such things for ourselves.

Again, your neck/fingerboard is sealed in plastic. Now, focus less on the fact that it is a neck/fingerboard. The bottom line is, what is good for cleaning plastic and metal hardware such as frets and chromed machine heads? Surely, lemon oil is useless and inappropriate. Now, depending on the soiled state of any plastic encased object (or the metals of the neck/fingerboard), what would be appropriate to clean it? Mild soap and water? An all purpose, non-caustic household cleaner? Maybe as you've stated, simply a wiping down with a cloth. Of course, it depends on how much dirt, grime or whatever is on it/them. Frankly, I've used Windex or a similar product on some plastic sealed necks/fingerboards/metal hardware with excellent results. My overall, #1 choice though if I have to apply any cleaning solution beyond a dry rag wipe is naphtha (lighter fluid), believe it or not. It doesn't hurt the finish(es) yet it gets all the crud and scuzz off quite easily. I also use it for any neck/fingerboard, regardless of whether it has an oil based, plastic based or literally no finish.

Agree with Martian, Naphtha is my choice too. Will also polish up the frets nicely, cleans anything on your guitar, and will not harm. You can get a can for about $6 at a hardware store that will last a lifetime.
