Yes, the store has been there for years. They are reputable. I noticed the serial numbers on other 2011 strats start with US or Z also.

this link should help.

ttps://store.bluebookinc.com/info/PDF/E ... zation.pdf

I agree with statshapedheart the new american made 2011's start with "US11" the other numbers have varied over the years and mean different things like, manuf. model, manuf. week, rosewood or maple, etc.

I hope this helps. I know there are more folks in the "know" about this in the forum and can shed more light on the topic.

Serial numbers have been fully revamped. All US-made instruments have US at the beginning of their ser.no. and the first two digits represents the year...

http://www.fender.com/news/index.php?di ... rticle=490

Quote:
Serial numbers that begin with “US” and “MX,” followed by two digits that denote the year and then several other digits, thus denoting the country of origin and the model year (a serial number starting with “US12,” for example, would describe a U.S.-made instrument built in 2012; “MX10” would describe an instrument built in Mexico in 2010).

The new serial numbering system implemented in 2010 should enable the most comprehensibly reliable product dating accuracy in Fender history for many years to come. These more recent instrument serial numbering designations will be updated on the Fender website Support page “Product Dating” section in the near future.

Hope that answers your question.

No, it's all USA non-reissue instruments (excluding those with odd serial numbers like the Eric Johnson Strats). It's been that way on American Standards, American Deluxes, Highway 1s, and American Specials since early 2010.

Actually Fender's info is ignoring what they did for the first few months of 2010 - after they used up the 2009 decals (the Z9XXXXXX decals) they used some that just had a "10" on it - so the number would look like an 8-digit number instead of a prefix plus a six digit number, particularly since the "10" wasn't really in a bold font and was pretty close to the look of the other 6 digits. Around April or so they started shipping USA guitars with the "US10" prefix, and they made that "US10" stand out more from the font of the other 6 digits.

Since the MIM guitars typically change over their decals in mid-summer, there were never any MIM guitars with the plain "10XXXXXX" serial numbers; they went straight from the "MZ9XXXXXX" decals to the new style "MX10XXXXXX" decals.
