I just listed my Fender Stratocaster Custom Built Relic guitar the other night on eBay, and thought I'd post the link here on Fender Lounge's Stratocaster Guitars area. This is definitely the hands-down Rolls Royce of Fender Stratocasters and is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Thought this would definitely be a forum to post it at, and maybe this could go to a fellow Fender enthusiast.

eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0208607428

Starting: $1300
B.I.N.: $1650

For those curious about the construction process of this Fender Stratocaster, check out this link: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/vie ... id=4519603

Haha. I'm really getting nailed for this by different parties.

1. It's not made to look like a relic, because the finish was stripped and sanded and chiseled. (The builder called it that though.)

2. I should have said Custom Built.

 I feel as dumb as the guy who was posting the blue competition Mustang on eBay, claiming it was Kurt Cobain's. Except not as bad..

Dude, you're getting nailed because you're asking 3 or more times what that guitar is worth, trying to make it sound valuable with a flurry of words, and anybody who plays the guitar knows it.

Have not noticed that you've got a day to go and no bids? It's not anything close to "the hands-down Rolls Royce of Strats," and it's for sure no work of art.

It would sell in heartbeat for $350. If it was mine, I'd re-list it with more realistic expectations.

*******

ALSO: I know you said you read the FAQ's but what you should read are the Forum Rules at the top of the index page. According to the Terms of use, you are not supposed to post ANYTHING for sale or trade. So why not do all of us a favor and remove these links before you get reported?

As I said in the Custom Shop Forum:
The guy who made that "thing" should have kept it that killer Midnight wine color. The gold hardware with the wine color would have been awesome. Still, even if that were so you could probably only get $500.-$600. for it.

You should seriously consider that guy's offer from Guam.

I thought a Relic was supposed to look well played, and enjoyed. Not like it has been used as a war club.

Well, as you can see, the auction ended with no bids, so this is looking like a dead horse. I'm sure the owner got the message.

I suspect the current owner may have paid more for this guitar than it is worth, and is now trying to break even or make a small profit on it.

As for that question from Guam, well... the question didn't come from me, but I do know (and won't say how) that guy is not actually in Guam and doesn't have any interest in the guitar... he was just tweaking the seller a bit.

Hey Rim297, I saw some cool MIM bodies on ebay, If you want to sell that thing you should swap out the body. Candy apple red, black, met green maybe even arctic white would look great with the color scheme.
The cost for the bodies for MIM is $90.00 to $150.00.

You should feel bad trying to pass off a piece of crap for a Custom Shop Strat!...That's a really ugly guitar! Did someone use it to wipe their butt? :P
