I have a couple of 2002 Double Fats that have the nicest necks. They're just a bit beefier than others I've played, but what makes them really stand out to me is that the edges of the fretboards are rolled. I am interested in knowing what other years have these rolled edges. I know that 2002's and 2003's have them but are there others?
Thanks all!

Rolled edges were featured starting with the American Series (which would include the American Double Fat Strat) which was launched in 2001 (?) as an upgrade of the original American Standard line.

Thanks for the response! Any idea which years tend to be chunkier or is that just hit or miss?

Way back in the early years of Fender it was all hot or miss, but over time the neck shapes started become pretty standerdized.

The Strats from the 70s seem pretty chunky to me, but I've got small hands. My favorite neck is the one on my EC Strat. It's a soft V.

Rolled-edge necks were introduced in 1998 when the American Deluxe series replaced the Plus line. Non-veneered HSH routed bodies made also their first debuts that year.

I have a 99 AM Std that doesn't have them...that's the one I'd like to replace.

The American Deluxes got rolled edges in '98, but only the Deluxes got them in that year. The American Series replaced the American Standard in '00 or '01 (I forget when) and one of the upgrades over the AmStd was the AmSe's got the AmDlx rolled edges.

As far as I know they kept the rolled edges when the American Series changed back into the current American Standards.

Well...I found a 2011 Am Std neck that I will try out.
I saw a 2003 that looked nice but lots of fretware, and this 2011 is mint for a great price. If it's too skinny...back to GO do not collect $200.
I have this fantastic SB Am Std. with Stevens Design PUP's that I just don't play because of that neck...hopefully this will change that!

The american standard neck feels skinny in your hands because the fretboard and headstock front are coated with a layer of glossy urethane lacquer for a richer presentation.

Only the back is satin-finished.

Can't agree with that...
I have six Strats and the necks have different profiles.
