Here is my newly upgraded Highway One:

Image

Image

She began her life as a run-of-the-mill HSS Highway One. I grew tired of the muddy growl of the standard pickups and black controls on a white pickguard. I added Fender Custom Shop '54 pickups with aged white controls and a mint green pickguard.

Now, I can truly say that she sounds as good as she looks. After the mods were complete, I officially christened her, Carolyn, after my girlfriend of 5 years (soon to be fiance? ).

Hope the pictures do her justice.

Not very much, they price them up over here but I still got it for quite a good deal. And yes it is :)

Absolutely beautiful, tell me, how does those pics of the pickguard compare to seeing it in real life? I've not seen a mint pickguard in person before.

Hi, I have a rare Fender, called Southern Cross.

It was made in Brasil, in nineties (mine is from 1993).

Color: Candy Apple Red.

It has too a HS-3 Dimarzio on bridge,
gotoh lock tuners
brass nut
black pickguard
vintage (mint green) knobs

Much cleaner, not muddy at all... Classic Strat "jangle". MUCH better than the Highway One's, in my opinion.

The pickguard looks fantastic. I think the look best on any body that is green, red, blue or wood. I have seen them on white or black before but the contrast is too much. The mint green looks like an aged white pickguard... Creme with just a hint of light green. Very nice, in my opinion.

Here's a picture of my actual workhorse strat together with her younger sister:

The red Strat is a 1994 40th Anniversary Strat, coloured in Torino Red.
I love her !! My workhorse !

The blue one was a 1995 American Standard Strat in a very rare blue....ab bit brighter than Lake Placid Blue, but not Blue agave and also brighter than Electron Blue, but not so greenish like Ocean Turquoise... :?: :?: :?: .

The Blue one is already sold at Ebay...maybe the rare color was the reason for the high price i got on ebay 8)
