This is my custom built (by myself) "bitsy," strat.

I purchased a wood plank (body blank if you will) from a local exotic wood supplier. I carved and sanded the horns and contours to the exact '54 specs. Then in my machine shop I used an end-mill to mill out the pickup and control cavities.

When I stained and finished the body, I was actually going for a uniform blue with black grain in the ash. For some reason, I rushed the staining process, and actually came out with an uneven denim-like finish, that I actually like more!!

The neck is one of the brand new 2008 Fender American Standard necks (with the glossy fretboard and headstock with the flattened polished medium-jumbo frets).

I wound the pickups myself, and they are honest-to-goodness delightful!!

The guitar has a bit of wear on the body from my excessive playing - some surface scratches from time - but I don't plan on buffing those out anytime soon ;)

I can't really see that "unveven denim-like" effect. The lighting isn't even enough in your pictures to know what's just lighting and what isn't.

The one picture of the back has enough light to see the nice grain. Can you get a better picture of the front? I'd like to see it.

How cool will it be for him when he pulls out that closet classic a decade from now? His friends will all be jealous. How old is your son now and how old will he be when you give it to him?

Thanks all.

Our son will be a year old on Feb 1st. My wife and I are doing this a little late in life.

I wanted a guitar for him that would have some meaning, especially when I'm gone. I was born in '57 (yep, I'm up in the "geezer" range) and he was born in '07, so this Strat was perfect. Plus we don't know yet if he is a righty or lefty. Both bases are covered with this strat.

I hope I'm still around when he straps this baby on for the first time, perhaps through and old cranked tweed!!!!

Here is our little man promoting Teles...

Nice used guitar.

I think used guitars are always better looking than new once.

Im gonna get my Surf Green strat a black pickguard, and Im gonna spray some things on it with black paint.
Ill get a picture once Ive done it.

@ Shaki: Dont worry about the typos, but ironically, you made more mistakes in that last sentence than in the rest of the text.
