Thanks! Actually, I have bought this for my son for Christmas. It was made in 1997, same year he was born.

I'd LIKE to do something custom on it, like have the neckplate engraved, or would be easier to have a nice backplate engraved, with his name or initials and year.

I can't find any backplates suitable for that. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm hestitant on doing a custom neckplate because I'm afraid to remove/install it. I don't want to take the neck off and mess something up.

Thanks,

I had a neckplate engraved by a guy I found on ebay, If you are worried on the removal and install your local dealer should have a tec that could handle it for a small fee. I am at work and will see if I can find the engraver's info when I get home. I sent him a picture and he did a wonderful job.

That would be great. I did find a place called melodymusic.com (I think it was) that does that also.

So where is the picture of that strat with the custom neckplate? This IS the 'Show us your Strat' tread, right? :D

Far out man, dig the taxi cab yellow! Makes me crave a burnt orange shag carpet and avacado green kitchen appliances.

It's Monaco Yellow, I've heard that it's a rare color.

Just got this a month ago. For an MIM, it's really pretty nice! I tried this out, and one of the customers who's also in a popular band in these parts says "Man....you don't get a better Strat sound than that!!" He didn't even know it was an MIM!
I was debating on it since it was an MIM, so the manager, a die-hard Strat Man, brings me another guitar to try out. He took the tag off it...so I didn't know what I was playing. I tried it, and it didn't play as well (for me anyway) as the MIM. It sounded nice, but I liked the sound of the MIM
better. Then he tells me that it's an Eric Johnson model, and sells for almost $1,800!

This is the Classic 50's series (not the players )

Could you Show a picture of the neck joint?
Paul Rodgers playes one of these on The Strat Pack, and they only show a glimpse of the set neck.
