I am not a wealthy collector, I've had this since I was 18.
Paid $300.00 for it.

Here's a before and after.

I took off the horrid gold pickguard and put on a white one, but then switched to this black abalone (from WD Music) when I found out there was such a thing. The pg looks even better in person, more subdued.

Just a few upgrades on my Highway One. She is all buffed out (no more satin finish...sweet gloss!) I have two pull-pots in the tones. One gives me Neck/Bridge and Neck/Mid/Bridge on positions 1 & 2 when up.
The other pull-pot gives me a choice of two fixed Greasbucket tones on the Bridge pickup. One (down) sounds like a good humbucker and the other (up) is a kickin Strat tone without the "ice pick" in the ears.
I also have a "superswitch" in there and use it to route the fixed and variable tones to the pickup selections I want them at.

Now I just need an S-1 switch to get 15 pickup combos and some courage to install that LSR nut I bought. :(

When I'm done this will be one maxed out Strat! :D

I love this thing! Image

My Strat, taken a few years ago. She was brand new then. She's a little more worn now and she's just a joy to play.

Likely no more than one would take a Ferrari, douse it in a caustic solution and then drive it into a wall.

Obviously, Alain is a serious collector and views these instruments as art.
Many of them I cannot serious think of as a journeyman's guitar, and I am old enough to have followed the evolution of a great many of these Custom Shop one-offs. Many are here which I am very surprised to learn that he owns. It is a credit to his interest. He is also fortunate enough to be in the financial position to support his pursuit and have the facilities in which to store these.

I appreciate the fact that he has chosen to share his collection with us and I expect that the company joins me in this as well.

yea thats all great.. i like the picture too, im not sure what a journeyman is other than a man that journeys but yea i would hope that would never be the case and these could only fall into the hands of someone like alain. je tamme au guitar alain!! anyway, i would love to drive a ferrari into a wall, or off a cliff, or into the sea( that would be very funny). im not really materialistic at all but these are very nice looking!! i see the need for them in the world. im also glad you have such a great enthusiasm of alains collection there zzdoc. im much more into studing the marketing tactics, or pillars i guess they would say, of the fender corporation.

Eric Clapton used the word "Journeyman'' as the title of one of his CD's.
It denotes a 'working' person...hence...these would not be instruments used in the everyday pursuit of a living as a working musician.
