Here is my 2011 American Deluxe Stratocaster in tobacco-burst finish:

Image

I mainly use the Strat for clean tones. Here is a recording I made yesterday, recorded through my Mustang III (v1) amp's USB connection. It is kind of an easy Surf Rock tune with a tongue-in-cheek cliched name of "Long Walks (on the beach)":

rosewood, the "coffee-stained plastic" parts are pretty unique. :D

Did you do that yourself? Would you share the technique? :?:

Very, very nice, Relic G Man. :D

Looking at the above pic, I notice that although there are slots on top of the machine heads, it doesn't appear that your strings go in the top or the slot. Are those locking Gotoh Tuners? :?:

If so, the recommended stringing technique is to tighten the lock before winding the string on the post. Less likelihood of slipping/stretching that way. It's why they have the locks. 8)

If not, or, if you don't subscribe to that theory, please overlook everything after my first sentence!

Hi danagos, no they're not the locking type, they're just like a '55 Strat has, only they say Fender on the back.

danagos, the coffee-stained plastic parts were done by me. They came out a bit darker than I intended, but I was honestly just playing around and experimenting. The process was simple, really. I brewed a single cup of a dark roast at approx 5x the normal strength of a regular cup of coffee and then just threw the plastic and the scalding hot super-brew into a glass bowl. I stirred randomly while letting them sit for approx 15 min. Took them out, washed them off with clean water and they were good to go. I did also use a ~1000 grit polishing pad to dull them down almost to a satin sheen before install into my strat.

I wasn't really going for any "relic" look but they sort of turned out that way. I kind of like the Oly / mint / coffee trio :D
