Can anyone identify this Strat. I bought it off a friend several years ago to help him out with his finances. I've always thought it was a Fender but can't find any info on it so now I'm not sure what it is.

It is a Fender HM ("heavy metal") Strat. A friend of mine owns five of them....they were also favored by Greg Howe back in the day. I'm not certain though, if yours is MIA or MIJ.

How interesting, a 24 fret Strat :D not often you see that! Not your traditional Strat, I'd love a guitar like that!

This guitar is more a superstrat than a Strat.

The HM series were Fender's first attempt to enter the superstrat trend. Unfortunately this move was not successful and production of the Heavy Metal line came into a halt a couple of years later.

The first real Fender superstrat was the Showmaster, created by former Senior Master Builder Gene Baker in 1998. Discontinued in 2009.

Fender Strat HM one of the best 80´s superstrat guitars in my humble opinión,one of the most underrated probably because little commercial success.

Dude, hang on to that guitar! I've been trying to find one of those for ages and they are extremely hard to come by. Sure wish I would have bought a black one back in the day!

I'm more a blues/blues rock player myself and don't have much use for a Heavy Metal Strat.

My Strats
The Aztec Gold is an Affinity Squire sounds really thin plugged in but unplugged is very resonate, I may put Tex Mex or even Fat 50's in it.
The Burst is an American Special nuff said!

Albeit a mid 90's Squier, my home made creation of the George Harrison "Rocky" Strat.
Set up for slide, it is also fitted with replica 1961 spec Strat pick-ups.....made by a pick-up maker friend of mine:

Nothing very special just a MIM, but out of all my Strats this one gets played the most.
She has had a lot of upgrades, but she has done a huge amount of gigs and shows since I got her in 2005.

Has had the Pups replaced with EMG SA, new Scratch plate as the old one was looking a bit worse for the ware. The Machine Heads replaced with Fender locking Tuners, New Bridge as the old one got played to death. Strap locks (dropped a strat once in the 90's on stage.. never do that again). On average I would say she has done at least one show a week since 2005.

Not the most expensive Strat or the best looking but I love this Strat.
