2000 Tobacco Burst CURLY MAPLE top & back USA STRATOCASTER DELUXE SPECIAL EDITION. They were a limited run of 150 for Guitar Centers, what I was told. I have owned 2, oddly enough:

my first stratocaster
antiqua burst
3 bolt maple neck
paid 300

old photo from late 80,s
me on the right -
playing at cbgbs,nyc...

walked into sam ash in the late 80,s and they had this strat with no price on it-
the morons workin there ,were calling it the vomit burst-they were actually laughing that i wanted it .
there was no price on it--i offered em 300 and they gave it to me-----

i played many clubs in the city with this guitar-one night i met a girl-
and after the show we left together-and did some crazy things---
somehow the guitar got left behind-never to be seen again......
same with the girl.....

My latest Strat is this "parts-o-caster" that I built a couple of months ago...

Image

CIJ Teal Green Metallic '60s re-issue alder body, MIM '60s re-issue neck, loaded Robert Cray pickguard, MIA vintage trem bridge with steel block, repro "PATENT PENDING" saddles, and Kluson Deluxe single-line tuners. The Crays are very ballsy and articulate with a low-powered tube amp driven by a Fulltone OCD. I'm rather shocked that these pickups are not available as Custom Shop accessories -- I'm certain that they'd sell like proverbial hotcakes.

This is my 2000 American Deluxe Fat Strat.
I traded out the double coil pickup for a Seymour duncan and added a switch for a coil tap.I also traded out the brown pick guard for a mint green.

"Champ" '02 MIM Strat 3-Tone Burst with my late '80s Stage 185.

It's so tempting to relocate the s/n and MIM decals to the back of the headstock. The silver transitional Fender logo and Strat font decal would look awesome if the s/n and MIM decal weren't cluttering everything up.

If I can figure out a way to relocate the s/n and MIM decal and make it look professional ...

Kluson tuners, a black pickguard, Tex-Mex pups, and a thicker vintage-style trem block are musts for this guitar.

In the softshell case is my first Strat, disassembled in pieces. The only thing that I'm keeping from it is the body. The rest of the Squier-spec hardware is going in the parts bin.

A black pickguard, two Jag pickups and a SD HR (made a final decision on the pup setup), a maple neck, and vintage hardware are what's next for it.

My '90 Squier by Fender Squier II Stratocaster aged naturally to a now gorgeous ivory pearlescent.
