Fiesta Red 1962 reissue Stratocaster (MIA)
(the color didn't come out very true in these pics)

Replaced original pickguard with aged white mother-of-toilet-seat 'guard.
Changed original knobs with aged white ones.
Changed stock pickups with Pete Biltoft Vintage Vibe SP90 pickups (voiced like P90 in a Strat-sized package; more girth and punch like a P90, but maintains the sparkle and spank of a Stratocaster).
Middle (tone) knob is a push/pull pot that turns on bridge pickup no matter where selector switch is set (makes "Bridge + Neck" or "All Three" pickups possible).
Blocked tremolo with a small stack of quarters (for sustain and tuning stability).
"CUSTOM" badge on "ashtray" bridge cover is from the interior of a 1960s Pontiac. 8)

That is a really cool looking guitar man.

Very cool, James! Does it actually play? If so, how does it sound? Oh, and welcome to the forum! 8)

Thank you very much; it took a bit of work to get it the way I wanted it, but I'm really happy with it.

I originally bought it for two reasons--
1. I always wanted a real Stratocaster (at the time I had a G&L Nighthawk, which was a Strat-style guitar--I wish I had that one back. It was lost in the Great Mortgage Payment Guitar Collection Massacre of 1996...). The two of those guitars--the black Nighthawk and the fiesta red Stratocaster made a lovely pair. Played slide on the G&L and standard on the Strat.
2. It was the same color of my first car--a 1964 two-door hardtop Ford Falcon. I still own the car, but it needs some love at this point...maybe when the economy improves. :?

The funny thing was, for about eight years I kept the thing dead stock, except for putting a 5-way switch in place of the (stock) 3-way. But one day I got a wild hair and blocked the tremolo and replaced the pickguard/pickup covers/knobs all at once. Little by little, it became more of what I wanted.

...the only thing I thought about adding recently one of those passive mid-range boosts made by Villex; I haven't heard anyone talk about them, though, so I don't know much about them.

Thank you for the kind words, though.

That's a beautiful guitar. Way too fancy for my tastes personally, but I'll be damned if that guitar doesn't scream, "PIMP!"

The gold hardware and the grain on the guitar is really, really nice looking. But the neck itself is stunning.

Thanks, i know a lot of people don't like the gold hardware, but to each his own i guess right?
I'm glad you like it overall though, I designed it, collected every single piece and then had a professional put the harder to do parts together haha

personally they're just tools to me, I use them all day. Honestly just joining a guitar forum and talking about them seems a bit odd to me but I've really come to love my Squiers in the past couple years and realized I'd finally found my 'favorite' kind of guitar, so what better site to join right?

But your guitar I can honestly say is really beautiful, the wood grain makes it a piece of art.

as much abuse as my guitars get on a daily basis I think I'd be embarrassed to post any pics of them. They're not pretty, they just work and sound really good. (though I'm kind of proud of my Made in the USA Squier, it's the only one I've seen personally, though I despise the color of it.)

You should be proud to own that stunning guitar bro.

Well, here's my (sort of) brand new Highway One Strat.

I bought it brand new from the shop, but it's a 2006 model, so it's been there a little while. I just got it yesterday - I couldn't be happier! It's been years since I owned a Stratocaster, and it feels like a missing piece of me is back in place, as weird as that might sound. My long-lost 1974 Strat had a maple board and a 'natural' finish. I've become more of a rosewood fan in the intervening years, and this guitar has made me really, really happy.

Yes, it works :D. Here's the video:

There are problems with tuning because strings are too high over the neck, but sound is nice (if it's plugged into an amp - I've got only weaak cable and Amplitube) ;(

Yeah, no problem. I really like the color, and the ashtray bridge cover is really neat! I have always been a fan of modified strats and yours oozes with coolness.

Wow, that's really cool. The intonation is a bit off, but I think the homemade pickup has surprisingly good tone. Congrats! 8)
