I would say 'A'. Shows detail a little better and has kind of a "dirtier" look to it... in a good way.

Yes, pic A.
Constructive criticism: In the future, try to eliminate contrasting details like the books in the upper left as it distracts the viewer. Also, there is too much glare on the headstock making it illegible -- it would look much cooler being able to read it.

Again, I say this in a positive way. I like where you are going with this.

Thanks 01GT eibach. Tips and suggestions are always welcome. So I assume you are also into photography? Any suggestions on photography literatures that you would recommend? I've been reading some of Ansel Adams on the use of exposures. I would like some info composition, as what you have given me tips on.

Just wired this one up last night. The body is from one of the early "American Series" Hard Tail Strats. Run of the mill Alder with the HSH cavity. The pickguard is from a Big Apple and the Pickups are Fender, Sidewinder Neck and Black Cobra bridge. Nothing too fancy with the wiring scheme, just a single 500K volume and two 500K tone pots. .022 caps and a 5-way super-switch. I basically wired it the same as an American Series HH HT that I already have minus the S-1 switch (I got tired of waiting for my local shop to get one in for me). The strap buttons are schallers and the bridge is a cheap Fender Stratocaster HT. I'm probably going to have to find some black strat knobs to match the pickups, but for now I'll use whatever I have laying around. Right now the plan is to pull the neck off my American Series strat since not only is the red body not very red anymore (more of an orange), but I've been leaning towards an all Hard Tail strat collection (this will be my fourth, but the first one I'm 'building'). The neck is maple/maple so that will set it apart from the other HT's I have, and I already have it loaded up with the brushed chrome (or nickel, I forget) locking tuners so all I have to do is bolt in on and hopefully not need to adjust the neck tilt too much. Next comes intonation and and we're off too the races.

Nice, I really like the looks of that Daphne Blue 50s and even though I'm not too hot on the finish, the '72 reissue would find a nice home in any collection. The Magic hat looks pretty tempting too.

I'm just wondering what the switching is like on the contemporary? 5 or 3-way?

The switching on the 1985 Contemporary Strat HH is a 3 way blade type. The interesting part is the TBX tone control. The knob has a center detent. Going counter-clockwise, it is just like a typical tone control, or treble roll off. From the center detent to clockwise, it adds some clarity, presence and some treble bite. It just seems to brighten up the sound without using an active circuit. it is a nice set up, as it allows the guitar some nice tones and timbres.

Fiesta Red 1962 reissue Stratocaster (MIA)
(the color didn't come out very true in these pics)

Replaced original pickguard with aged white mother-of-toilet-seat 'guard.
Changed original knobs with aged white ones.
Changed stock pickups with Pete Biltoft Vintage Vibe SP90 pickups (voiced like P90 in a Strat-sized package; more girth and punch like a P90, but maintains the sparkle and spank of a Stratocaster).
Middle (tone) knob is a push/pull pot that turns on bridge pickup no matter where selector switch is set (makes "Bridge + Neck" or "All Three" pickups possible).
Blocked tremolo with a small stack of quarters (for sustain and tuning stability).
"CUSTOM" badge on "ashtray" bridge cover is from the interior of a 1960s Pontiac. 8)

Here's my Stratocaster made out of scratch. Had to be like Eric Clapton's blackie. Looks like relic. One pickup wired by myself. Frets are... toothpics.
Wood is pine at all.
