I'll try to attach a pic of my 2007 MIM Strat sitting next to my Les Paul Special.

EDIT: Guess they don't allow attachments.

Whats up with the logo on that one, does not look like the smal gold ones they used on the early 60's....

This guitar suffered some abuse from the original owner :( This is not by any means mint. The original owner way back in the 70's painted his company logo (some kind of a desert scene with cactus) around the bridge area and also painted over the Fender decal (black on white). The company logo was erased. It has been refretted and the body was refinished once. Also the bridge was already in very poor condition and was replaced with an Fender replacement bridge. The switch tip is also not original. The switch is still the original 3-position switch.

I am planning to buy an original Fender decal and have the headstock restored. I don't know if that is available from Fender. You've got sharp eyes. Thanks for the interest.

In this instance i'd contact customer services simply because of the age of the guitar. It may involve taking the guitar to the factory and having a few bods poking around inside it to authenticate and date. I also think its the only possible way that you will get a legit logo thats period correct. Even though you will still have to pay for it.

Here's my main baby, it's either a 1971 or 72, has attributes of both years. I've owned it since the early 90's. The original owner put it thru hot rod hell in the 80's and added a Kahler whammy, jumbo frets the EMG pu's, and even had a 22nd fret added to the neck. Why someone would go to all of that trouble instead of buying a different guitar I have no idea but this is an amazing sounding guitar. I have restored some stuff, looking to go back to a set of single coil pu's next.

I'm suspicious of the entire neck. A '62 should have a Brazilian slab board with wide dot spacing at the 12th fret. That looks like a much later rounded lam-board.

As well, the pickguard is not period-correct for a '62 either.

????

Again thanks for the comments. I'm discovering lots of things about my strat. I've added some more photos...
