Hi everybody...newbie to the forum here. I just wanted to share some pics of my just received baby. It was left to me from the estate of a very good friend who passed a couple of years ago. It's a 1958 Strat. 5 digit serial that begins with 28XXX. Obviously he did some weird custom work on the pups and wiring which I want to return to normal but other than that she's simply awesome!

Thats a 58 to make collectors cry. Personaly i wouldnt change a thing about it. That middle pickup looks very interesting. Scalloped fingerboard too.

Thats one seriously nice guitar, i really do like it.

LOL, yeah she's seen some good times obviously...I think what my buddy tried to do with the single coils in the middle is to make it stereo? there's an extra jack where the tone pot used to be...still trying to figure it out. Sure sounds awesome though and plays like fingers on air.

That 1958 is sure unique looking.

Are those single coil pickups the original 1958 pickups? If so, it'd be real easy to get a new single ply pickguard and restore it to a more "standard" setup. If those are old pots, you might want to use them in the restoration too.

You know, I kind of likes the look of this Squier!

Not a lot of guys use burning in their attempts to relic. It looks like you (or whoever did it) burned off the Squier logo from the headstock --- like a cigarette burn gone wild!

Interesting effect on the pickguard too.

Whatever gets done or not done to that guitar, the important thing is that it continues to be played!

While it's still worth quite a bit, whatever it needs (refretting, restored, etc), do it, but don't touch that finish or what's left of the decals!

A great piece.
