I don't have my '80 Strat here right now, having a bit of resto work done on her...here's my '01 MIA. There are Fralin Blues Specials in the neck and middle, SD Hot Rails in the bridge. :)

I was recently in the market for a new guitar. I already have a HW1 Tele, so I was looking for a Strat with a humbucker. I had heard some pretty good things about the Japanese models from the 80s and was watching the Contemporary models on e-bay for a while, then I saw the black Strat at the local GC . . . even with the poor setup, awful strings and caked on grime, I had to have it.
Of course, the next week I was able to score a pretty cheap Contemporary model with some EMGs on e-bay. Oh well, I'll just be poor a little bit longer.

All of my Fenders. I've got a Squire Strat around the house somewhere (my first guitar) and an Ibanez bass.

Another shot.

The black one is almost perfect for a 20+ year old guitar. A little corrosion on the chrome parts, but otherwise in good shape. The reddish/pinkish/coral/copper/whatever color one has seen much better days. It is going to be my new project guitar. I've already purchased a stock pickguard/pickups in HSS configuration. Next up will probably be a Kahler trem and some fresh paint. Anybody know what that color is even called?

Funny how "different strokes for different folks" plays out, but that dual-humbo color absolutely rocks. I love it, and would not change it a bit. If you must, maybe you could "relic" it. But in the pics, it outshines all the others (as a matter of disclosure, I just cannot love a black or red guitar. Too many of 'em.).

The last thing I would change on that guitar is the color. It looks really good, I just wish there were fewer dents and dings. If I can't match the color, I'm not refinishing it.
I am not nearly as impressed, however, with the pickguard and EMGs. The pickguard doesn't fit quite right, the EMGs are missing a tone control and there is a battery rattling around in there somewhere.

My first real Strat, just bought on Ebay. It's a MIM Deluxe from 2000 with three Seymour Duncan Hot Rails Mini Humbuckers. Beside it is my Epiphone G400 and my Vox AD30VT Amp that i only bought last night.
