Here is my 2007 HWY1 Strat. Looking at it, it screams VINTAGE, which attracted me to in the first place. Amazing guitar - especially the neck and the finish. The jumbo frets remind me of my Floyd Rose Japanese Fat Strat that I had back in '96 (regretfully sold back in '98!). Rosewood neck is fast - this thing was made to bend the blues! The fat 70's headstock looks really cool, too. I am still working out the kinks with the 6 point trem - it generally stays in tune, but has its issues like all vintage trems - looking to work on it a bit to get it to stay in tune better, but it works well as long as I stay away from EVH territory. I didn't care for the Alnico III pups in it, so I replaced with Seymour Duncan SSL-1 (neck/mid) and a hot SSL-5 for the bridge. Vintage tone! Snarling rock on the bridge, and glassy "Lenny" tones on the out of phase sounds. The local tech screwed up my Grease Bucket tone circuit, so I soldered a jumper wire to have tone control over both mid and bridge with 2nd tone control. After doing that, I really fell in the love with the Highway One. With control over both mid and bridge, I've got what I need! Had 3 Strats in my life (including a USA Lonestar sold in 2002-stupid!), sold 'em all over the years, but this is the ONE that will stay forever. With the Duncans in it, this guitar screams through my Fender Reverb Deluxe (just add tube screamer for quick trip to heaven/texas).Sweet cleans, crunchy rhythms. I think this finish is great. I do believe it adds to the tone, too. I can't recommend this guitar enough -especially for its price.

Here is a better pic of my 2002 Powerhouse Strat. The Inca Silver changes color. In the right light it's a beautiful silver. Here it looks like Pewter, but in can look greenish sometimes, too.

Here's one more, the venerable "Black No. 1". It's a 1986 MIJ Fender Contemporary Standard 22 Stratocaster with the Kahler System I bridge. The p/u switch was replaced, the locking nut was removed and replaced with two string trees which is how the American Strats were configured at the time. I wanted an American-made Strat, but in 1986 they were still hard to find and very expensive. For some reason the pickguard never yellows on these models, but most of the rest of the plastic ages nicely. Even the neck which was a bit pale when I bought it has turned a golden yellow. I took good care of it so there are no real scratches or dings. The screws and string trees have rusted, but there is no corrosion on the bridge. There is some fretwear as it was my only guitar for many years and got a lot of use.

One more -- My '05 sunburst American Series Strat with maple fretboard. Classic Fender. This was when it was brand new with the stickers still on it. This was the guitar I always wanted.
