Hey i've had my Fender VG strat for years now and love the guitar. but every so often the "G" string buzzes and i know for sure it's not the neck or anything for it's done it before. So my question is what's the G strings saddle height and all suppose to be? i know if you adjust it it makes it better or worse. I've also heard that it's all up to the persons opinion but wanted to make sure first. If you guys have any info that could help, Thanks! i'm a noob on here so take it easy, haha

Welcome.

Presuming you mean a mechanical buzz and not an electronic one, odds are that the problem is with the way your G string is sitting in it's nut slot. Raising the G string's saddle may lessen the symptom but surely, does not eliminate the cause.

In a direct answer to your question about the proper height of the saddle, personally, I do not go by some pre-ordained measurement(s). Rather, each and every guitar is different and should be treated as such for optimum playability.

As always, the above is merely IMO where YMMV.

Along with Martian's suggestion you might want to look at the height of your Roland Pick up at the back. It is set very close to the strings and an agressive attack can sometimes cause the string to vibrate against it. If you've changed the string gauge it could also be the culprit.

Thanks guys! And yes it's just a sound it's deffinately not a electronic buzz. It like you said either has something to do with the roland pickup or the height of the saddle assuming it's the roland pickup or whatever ... since it seems the only sort of "hassle" with the guitar but once you set it's fine. anywho i'll try that and thank you for all the great info!
