I'd like some advice on which PUP to put in the bridge of my MIM HSS Strat.

My current amp is an Orange Tiny Terror through a Marshall 1960A 4x12 (usually with the gain cranked or a DS-1 for distortion) and I just want a bridge pickup that gets better distortion (Nirvana - Weezer type distortions) and can be split with the middle pickup to get the twangy or quacking sounds.

I've been thinking about either Duncan Pearly Gates or a Dimarzio Super Distortion but really have no idea

The Duncan is a moderate output pickup with an overall accent on treble. Once split, it will be weaker than your middle pickup and rather "ice picky". The DiMarzio is a high output pickup with more of pretty much the whole tonal spectrum. Even split, the one coil will still be more powerful than your middle pickup but without the "ice pickiness". Based on your requirements, I'd go with the DiMarzio without hesitation.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

I highly recomend the Dimarzio D Activator over the Dimarzio Super Distortion. The Super Distortion is a good choice for a Floyd Rose guitar as it has elevated bass and mid response. This replaces what you lose with a floyd.

Yes to the F Spaced. As to the pots, I'd leave them as they currently are (250K). Granted, the Super Distortion "on paper" should use 500K pots. However, MANY Strat players with Super Distortions use their OEM 250K pots with no complaints. As a matter of fact, using 250K pots will actually increase the crunch of the Super Distortion. Of note too is the fact that 500K pots will make the single coils sound tinny and limp. This will also be true when coil cutting the Super Distortion.

Thanks Martian, as I was also wondering about pot values when switching from SSS to HSS.
