Yesterday I picked up my Blacktop Floyd Rose guitar. This thing sound a heck of a lot better than my 1st Blacktop. I bought it as a platform guitar to mod. My plans are to make it a HSH. I could post pics of it now or wait until the mod process is over, I haven't decided.

What a wonderful little guitar.

Is it already routed for a HSH configuration or do you have to add the center cavaity?

Does anyone know how the Blacktop Telecasters are routed?

I believe they have the swimming pool routing.

It should be a swimming pool route, I know my last Blacktop was.

As far as modifications I have in the works are:

1. Nickel covered Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates in the neck.
2. A Tele nickel covered Seymour Duncan in the middle.
3. A nickel covered JB Trembucker in the bridge.
4. A black pearl pick guard.
5. 3 new 250k solid shaft pots, the volume pot will have a push/pull switch for coil tapping. 6. Already added the tele knobs and Duncan Strap Locks.

The design will have position 1 as bridge full humbucker. Position # 2 will be full humbucker and tele pickups. Position # 3 will be tele pickup only. Position # 4 will be middle and neck pickup. Position # 5 is just the neck pickup. With the button pulled up position #1 will be the bridge in single coil position. Position # 2 is the neck and bridge. Position #3 is the middle only. Position #4 will be neck and middle. Position #5 is the neck in single coil mode.

I just ordered all the parts for the moddification. I hope to have it done in a couple months. With a project this big and complex, I am going to have my Luthiers do this. The shop is an authorized Fender repair shop and I trust them completely for the job.

I believe the Blacktops are all swimming pool route... my CAR body was... makes for a great project body! Not to hi-jack, but here's a picture of mine.

Sounds like fun... that'll be one rocking strat when you're done!

Sweet, but the 250k pot values might be lacking the high
end on the buckers.
just a suggestion, maybe the volume pot can be 500k.
