Which is best for my styles of music, a standard SSS strat, an HSS strat (fat strat), or a Blacktop HH strat. I mainly play varying types of rock, from classic to hard, I play some blues, and some acoustic rock.

i have both the standard SSS stratocaster and the blacktop HH stratocaster. for your varying types of rock music and blues music ..i would go for the blacktop, though the HSS could also be a good choice with a humbucker in the bridge . your best bet would be to go to your local music store and try all tree , pick your favorite :) but as i play all types of rock also , i think its probably best to have at least one humbucker :)

just my thoughts

Conor

I feel kinda guilty about this, but I actually got an HSS a week ago, but it is still coming in the mail(I got a great deal online on an MIM one). I posted this because I was having some second thoughts that maybe I should've gotten a standard sss strat, but this advice is very reassuring. Thanks. :D :D :D

HSH and HHH with 25dB midboost, TBX and S1 switching.

Definitely my favourite pickup combinations !

I have 2 HSS's and just picked up a HH Stratocaster. I will be converting the HH to a HSH for more tonal possibilities.

As already stated, play a few and see which you prefer.

An HSH or SSH (both with coil taps) would cover all bases, IMO.
Keep in mind you can get any sound you want with an SSS setup too. My SSS Texas Specials running through my OCD into my Peavey Classic sound amazing. I can also get some super heavy sounds when I use my ME-50.

I'd prefer HHH because I'm a huge Bon Jovi/Richie Sambora fan.

HHH is by far extremely versatile, especially with that crazy cool 25dB midboost, TBX and S1 switch.

Then coil tap all three! That would be cool!

It's a pity Fender doesn't make HHH Strats with active electronics and S1 switching.
