Does anyone know what is the single coil pickup is in the Blacktop HSH? I am about to convert my Blacktop with Floyd Rose. It looks like a Telecaster neck pickup. I tried looking up the specs on Guitar Center and Musicians Friend website but they haven't put the specs on their sites. Fender does not have it their site either.

The middle pickup is indeed a Telecaster chrome pickup.

In addition to the FSR Blacktop HSH, Thomann offers a Flat Charcoal Standard with the same specs, except for the addition of a matching headstock, hardtail bridge and a passing lane switch to bypass the entire circuit and route the overall signal directly to the bridge pickup for full-blown crunchy distortion tones...

Here you go:

Fender FSR Strat HSH FC, E-Guitar, Fender Special Run, Limited, Alder Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fretboard, Modern C-Shape, 21 medium Jumbo Frets, Scale 648mm, Nut width 42mm, Chrome Hardware, Hard Tail Bridge, 2x Chrome Humbucker, 1x Telecaster Chrome Single Coils Pickups, Passing Lane Switch, 5 way switch, Finish Flat Charcoal, incl. Gig Bag

Found the specs on Thomann's website.

Hope this information helps a lot.

Cheers.

PS. This is the features list for the Standard HSH. The Blacktop borrows many of the features from the Standard but uses 22 frets and a vintage 6-screw tremolo bridge. It also lacks off the matching headstock and blower switch.

Thanks for the information. I am building a new loaded pick guard for my Blacktop Floyd Rose and am trying to go for chrome or nickel pup covers and Tele chrome knobs to match the chrome hardware.

I wonder how it sounds with the Tele pickup in the middle position? Anyone have any ideas how this sounds?

I think the middle Tele pickup will add a hint of twang into the mix.

With this axe you'll get a wide variety of tones ranging from Les Paul bark to Strat quack with the additional Tele twang and spank from the middle pickup.

If you want that full-blown creamy crunch from the humbuckers, I suggest you to drop a preloaded guard from a Charcoal Grey Standard which also includes the passing lane button.

You can eventually go for HHH (humbucker/humbucker/humbucker) if you're not satisfied with the middle Tele pickup.

For better results = 25dB midboost with TBX and S-1 switch for greater tonal versatility. You will not regret it.

I don't know useful a mid-boost circuit would be on a humbucker equipped guitar. Fender already offered a Special Run Player Strat HSS that featured the 25db mid-boost and the overall consensus seems to not favor it. It's far too muddy and overpowering. As far as the TBX option....maybe a no-load tone control would be better.

The early Samboras with their growing MOP star inlays featured a humbucker and the 25dB boost/TBX tone controls. They also sported a special push-push button for active/passive modes.

Using the mid-boost with humbuckers is more suited for heavy metal with high gain overdrive and distortion.
