I'm pretty new in this forum, been a lurker for awhile and decided to join afterwards.

Need some help on this. Hoping some of the fender experts here can enlight me.

I got this strat from a local forumer. It was sold to me as a Fender Japan Custom Edition Yngwie Malmsteen.

Serial number is pretty legit to me it's T029196. According to guitardater, it's a tribute series made in Fujigen Japan. However, the neck pocket markings look abit different and ot doesn;t have the 3 bolts neck just like other YJM.

Anyone can tell me whether this is legit or fakes or just franken?

Hi Reez,

neck is original, changed to 3 point later. I guess someone changed the body for a ´72 RI body later.
All Malmsteens have a 4 bolt (Japan and USA).

Thanks so much for the response Robin. So it's a franken strat? Original YJM neck with 72RI Body?

If the body has the YM stamp and 4 bolt it is original. If it is a 3 bolt body and the stamp doesn´t read YM it´s not original.
If you aren´t sure please post a foto of the neck pocket, thanks.

Sorry I double posted on the neck photo. It was supposed to be this

VWH - vintage white finish.
The body is not an original japanese Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster body.
No RI either.
